Research
Adverts to music isn't something I am familiar with. I needed to do more than just research other products in the same market. I needed to understand the entire concept and use of these adverts. What they were for? How do they benefit the artist and how do you go about advertising a song?
After some extensive research into the core of adverts for music, songs and albums, I realised that there's a place for music adverts everywhere. There's both physical and virtual places where adverts can be placed, physical such as trains, billboards or magazines for example. Virtual situations online such as Facebook advents, Spotify, mobile devices with free apps have a number of pop-up advertisements, TV, etc.
Physical Virtual

So now I understand the market of adverts for music, which is quite active. I then began looking at different designs, I looked at different adverts of Pop music as that was the genre of my song that I was using. I looked at three different adverts.
Ellie Goulding's advert of "lights" is unique. The advert has gone for a glamours and shiny look. The gold highlights in her hair and the sparkles all around her head suggests she's special. The match between gold and black works every well and will catch the eye of a lot of viewers. Ellie Goulding isn't looking directly into the camera which conveys that she's thinking hard or almost dreaming, bring a more dramatic effect. The quotes at the bottom of the advert with many stars suggests that it's a good album and from external sources which is favourable. The majority of the advert is of Ellie Goulding, showing the audience that is a solo artist and has produce a new album. The sight of Ellie Goulding may appeal to an audience.
Olly Murs has gone for a very different approach to Ellie Goulding's "fancy" advert. He has a rustic look which could show that he is down to earth and be a more relatable figure to an audience. The rough typography is very stylises and gives the more rustic feel. The colours are much brighter than Ellie Goulding's advert. The sharp shadow behind Olly Murs shows the brightness and almost the fame with photographer's flashing lights. The colours of the "Olly Murs" with his braces looks very nice, linking to the two very well all making the viewer think about the subject, Olly Murs. The "Includes no. 1 single" with songs underneath will encourage the viewer to buy the song as these songs are the most popular and will gain the most amount of attention.
The third advert is very different from any other I've seen. I love the graphic design work, still having a portrait of the subject, Madonna but adding so much more meaning and excitement. The unique colours and glowing feeling is very effective is attracting the viewers eye. I like the way the text is in a box in a slightly messy way. The way they aren't perfectly symmetrical. The use of of the glow and the fade into darkness is very dramatic, and this advert is for "the ultimate greatest hits collection", so it's Madonna's greatest album essentially. Lastly I the simplicity is very attractive as it makes it very easy for the viewer to see the key points that the advert is trying to convey. I think simplicity is adverts is key.
Development
I wanted to have a connection of the music video with the Digipak and Advert, so it became recognisable. The eye is the music video is a key point which I wanted to expand on. After creating the Digipak I wanted to stay on the same path with the advert, using the graphic designed eye. Then I needed to make the advert the same ratio as the other adverts, not like the Digipak (1:1)

Audience Feedback
I decided to do some audience feedback of my advert to see the advert's strengths and weaknesses. I found the results interesting and I will use the criticism to my advantage and learn from them.
