What I liked: I liked the opening of this video, I liked the dialog because it felt like the audience was getting a more personal insight into the singer. I liked the "retro" feel with the black and white filter and the zoom out from the TV. The use of the stage for the mise-en-scene was very affective and kept the focus on the music and singing. I liked the bright colours and the way they cloned the singer multiple times which made the film a little bit more
What I disliked: I felt that I got quite bored of the same location, being the stage. I think that it could be improved by having the singer is various locations. I don't like how the long the introduction is by the posh presenter in the hat.
Music Video Number Two
What I liked: I liked the simplistic nature of the video, being in black and white all the way though and the way they used the theme of the song in the video, running. I like the way they use a slider, or dolly, which follows the runner. I like the use of the landscape of the snowy mountains. I like the way sometimes the camera is still which engages the audience even more on the boy runny. I like the way it is shot at night, or is might to look like the night, this makes it more dramatic.
What I disliked: Again I think it was a bit boring, especially with no dialog or variety in location. I don't actually like the way it goes with the theme of the song because it influences the way the viewer thinks about the meaning of the video.
Music Video Number Three
What I liked: The bright colours which goes with the happy theme of the song. I like the unique story line which engages the viewer to watch more. I like the "immature" use of the tree houses and the toilet paper which was very effective from a aerial, birds eye, shot. I liked house the camera was constantly moving to give it a more dynamic feel. Again the retro feel was very good and helped create a more diverse music video. lastly I like house it is a sunny, warm day to add to the happiness and excitement of the song.
What I disliked: I didn't always like the constant movement of the camera, yes it did help mostly but sometimes I was quite confusing for the viewer to understand the narrative, I think that the video out benefit from a couple of shots of the camera without moving.
Music Video Number Four
What I liked: I like how the lyrics are connected to the music video. Actually everything that is shown in the music video is directly linked to the lyrics, I think this works very well and helps the keep the focus on the music. I like the unique and query way it is, the whole way all the videos are quite strange, shocking and confusing. I don't influence the viewers own thought of the lyrics and still lets the viewer think of the music in their own way.
What I disliked: I don't like it how the music video doesn't have any real sort of narrative, I think that a good narrative is the most important factor to engaging the viewer, otherwise it is just a collection of random video which are related to the song. I also think that something's the retro feel can widen the gap between the audiences experiences and the music video, I think it is important that the viewer can relate to the video in some way, so if this video was set in a modern period (21st Century) then it would be more appealing to me.
Music Video Number Five
What I liked: I like the steadicam tracking at the beginning of the man walking. I also like how it is quite dark and you can't see the man walking very clearly so the audience must focus hard and be totally engaged to understand the narrative. The flashing lights also gave a good dramatic effect to the music video.
What I disliked: This video, in my opinion, is the worst one of all the five I have reviewed. I really disliked the constant close up shots giving the audience no real chance to understand the narrative. I think the darkness can be effective but only at the beginning, after a while it got annoying and unnecessary. Lastly I just found it very competitive, showing practically the same shot again and again.

Target audience
I decided to do some primary research into what sort of music is the most popular in the United Kingdom. I created a survey and asked what year, gender and genre of music they liked. From this information I can work out the most popular genre in the UK, what age it is mostly focused towards and whether there is a unbalance gender in certain genres.

Some very interesting information that will help me target my audience and understand what I am dealing with.
The results from the survey will now help me target the most populated audience. I now know that 0 - 20 year olds on average most liked genre of music is Pop and Dance/Electronic. This means that I would be sensible to choose of of these two genres to gain the widest target audience. I think that Dance/Electronic would be a good genre as if has various drops and unique sections where I can be creative with the music video.
